Red Bluff is a very popular location with local surfers. It is a small rocky headland that seems to heighten the surf and can provide a good opportunity to catch a wave. The area is unpatrolled and carries a degree of risk even for experienced surfers. Weather conditions can change quickly in Bass Strait and people need be "on the alert" for sudden changes in both weather and sea conditions. There is a good carpark in a sheltered spot on the top of the dune and then just a short walk down to the beach. The weather observations available from this site, combined with other information from other government sites can be handy in predicting what the swell may be doing on any one day. |
